Floral Hugs

If you follow my blog you know how much I love colour, and I am finding this to be even more important during the last couple of weeks.

I also had a good giggle as my bird, CC, decided she loved these colours as well, and thought I should let her eat the flowers. That was before the sequins went on, as her focus would have shifted for sure, and she is super fast at snatching them off my cards.

For my background, leaf die and flowers I am using my Atelier Inks from Ink on 3 for both the background technique and water colouring, mixing together some of the colours to get colours I wanted. I also used a bit of Aqua Splash from the Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens Summer Holiday Collection.

The background, done on Arches cold press 140 lb. watercolour paper, is done using A Colorful Life Design stencil and the Stencil Monoprint found in my Tutorials section. I wanted the leaves to bleed and fall into the background, so I used a lot of water, on both the stencil and my watercolour paper and set it aside to dry naturally.

For the colour on the Penny Black die I mixed the blue and green inks together, then dragged my die cut leaves through the puddle, ensuring the leaves were fully covered. Once dry I added Nuvo Glitter Gloss.

For the flowers I water coloured using the ink pads for colour. I put the colour down on my craft space and picked it up and water coloured with my paint brushes. I used #2 and #4 DaVinci Round Brushes to paint.

To put it all together I attached my background with fun foam and scor-pal tape to a bright Aqua card base. Using the leaves die I arranged the flowers and once happy glued them together on the backside with Nuvo Adhesive, which I also used to attach the arrangement to my card.

I die cut a few of the “hugs” die again using the Arches paper and dragged them through the leftover blue inks then glued them together before attaching to my card using a foam square that I cut to fit. I then added Nuvo Glitter Gloss to it along with the small leaves in the arrangement.

And finally I added some gems and sequins, adding a bit more sparkle. I really like this card, and I hope you do as well. Thank you for visiting today.
