Meet “You matter”
I feel like I have been gone for a long time. It has been a busy week, but not in the card making sense. Finally today I found some time, and I very much enjoyed myself making this card.
My friend Jeanne Streiff has started a Facebook Group called Art Nudge. Every Tuesday night at 7pm she will post a new “nudge” or prompt. All types of art are welcome. All you have to do is be inspired by the “nudge photo” and create, then share with Art Nudge on Facebook.
This is this week’s Nudge.
For my card I used more of a blue green, using Distress Oxides for my background in Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers which I spritzed with Perfect Pearls before dragging my watercolour paper through it.
To watercolour my flower I first stamped on watercolour paper using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne. I then used the same colours but in Distress Inks, doing several layers of colour for the leaves, and for the flower I used Ripe Persimmon along with Wendy Vecchi’s Make Art ink in Poppy, again doing several layers of watercolouring.
Using my Gemini Jr. I die cut the background piece using my stitched rectangle die. For the flower I would like to say I fussy cut it, but alas I used my Scan’n Cut to cut it, which was quicker.
There is a second set of the leaves on the stem of the stamp set, but I cut it off the lower section as it interfered too much with my background leaf die, which is from Penny Black. To colour this die cut I put down the ink, this time using Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover Distress Oxides and spritzed with my Perfect Pearls mixture.
To finish up I splattered the background with Lucky Clover and dried then attached the leaf die to my background using Nuvo Adhesive, leaving in many of the cuts from the die, which gives more texture to the card. I styled the flower and attached using a large foam square.
