It is time for Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers, and I am hosting this week’s challenge, which is called “The Art of Blending”.
Blending is an important part of watercolouring and knowing how to blend out and blend colours will make a big difference with your watercolouring.
I have included a video where she is painting a Monstera Leaf showing blending, which you can find here.
For my leaf, on Arches Cold Press watercolour paper and using graphite, I traced the leaf that I used when I made this card. I like having the stem as part of my design, some however would prefer not to have the stem. I have leaves that can be downloaded over on the Splitcoaststampers Watercolour Wednesday Challenge located here.
To watercolour I used Daniel Smith colours, starting with a layer of Cadmium Yellow Light, then adding the green colours as I went along in my painting, blending with the different shades.
Once the piece was dry I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne. I then did some splattering with the green paints and once dry attached the piece to Gina K Design cardstock in Pine Green.
As always, I enjoyed my time with this leaf. I hope you will give it a try.
