This is “Roses”.
Good Afternoon! I have had another one of those lazy days with watercolour. I finished some things I was working on yesterday, then I painted this card to include in the Splitcoaststampers challenge for Featured Stamper.
I don’t often join in this challenge, but today was an exception. The Featured Stamper is Debby Hughes, and I have followed Debby for years. Her watercolouring is Brilliant, and if you want joy in your life for just a moment, please visit her blog. I have always said, I want to paint like her when I grow up!
I picked this card of Debby’s to case. I am using the only Rose stamp that I happen to have, which is surprising to me. I went looking at Rose stamps and didn’t see anything that I liked, hmmm … are Rose stamps out of style?
In any event, in my mini Misti I stamped this using VersaMark Embossing Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
Then it was time to paint. I did the Roses first, using only two colours of watercolour, being Hansa Yellow and Pyrrol Scarlett.
Then came the leaves, and I had a lot of fun doing these leaves, I must admit. I have four different colours of green layered on the leaves. The base colour was Serpentine Genuine, then Green Apatite Genuine followed by Hookers Green and finally Jadeite Genuine.
The end results of the watercolour I was happy about. But, as Debby did for her card, I added Prismacolor Premiere Pencils and Gamsol to the Roses and leaves. I used PC923 Scarlett Lake for the Roses and PC906 Dark Green for the leaves.
To do my blending I used a product called Pencil Blend that I get in the UK. I will link to it below. It has no smell at all, unlike the other products I have tried. When you have a bird you have to be very aware of things like this as they can harm a bird.
To finish up my card I added fun foam to the back of my watercolour piece using Scorpal tape to attach. I then wrapped some twine around the card and affixed to a dark green card base.
Several iridescent sequins and the hugs die done with Jadite Genuine watercolour finished my card.
I thank you for joining me today. Following are Affiliate Links for the products that I have used for this card, at no extra cost to you.
