I am sharing the cards I have done for the Scrap'n Stamp Blog, where we are continuing with our Random Act of Cardness Challenges. Today, being day 27 is "Masking". I am changing this up a bit to Die Cut Masking.
A reminder to upload your challenge cards to our Facebook Challenge page for your chance to win prizes.
I have changed it up a bit, using die cuts as my mask. Both of the above cards were done using the same die, which is Penny Black's Dancing Leaves.
First up is Hello Friend. I first die cut my top panel using my Penny Black Stitched Circles die. I then die cut the Dancing Leaves using Gina K Designs Magic Sheets. I placed the die cut piece of cardstock over my card base for placement of my leaves, then removed the backing tape and affixed the leaves to my card base.
Using Distress Oxide inks along with my Life Changing Brushes I started applying the ink, first the Tattered Rose then Worn Lipstick and last Festive Berries. To blend the meeting point I add my first colour, then the second, and go back over the meeting place with the first colour and so on.
Once I was finished with the blending I removed the masking paper to reveal the beautiful white leaves. I attached the stitched circle panel to my card base using foam squares. In my mini Misti I then stamped my sentiment from Gina K Designs Inspiring Poppies Stamp set using Ranger Archival Ink in Sepia.
To finish the card I applied a few Jewel Drops in Rosewater.
Next up is Dear Friend. It was this card that determined my colour choice as I want to send this to my friend who is battling Breast Cancer for the second time.
Using a piece of Gina K Designs Masking Magic paper cut to 4.25" square and placed my die on the paper so it would position to the bottom left of my card base, then ran it though my Gemini Jr. Removing the backing I placed the negative paper, the 4.25 square piece of masking, to my card base.
With my tiny narrow Life Changing Brush I applied the inks, starting again with the Tattered Rose, then the Worn Lipstick and ending with Festive Berries. I applied so I would get the variations from the colours I used.
Once I was finished with the inking, I removed the masking paper to reveal my beautiful leaves. I love this done in these colours. In my mini Misti I stamped a sentiment from Penny Black's Dear Friend Stamp set using VersaFine Clair ink in Pinecone.
To finish up I applied Vintage Photo Distress Oxide to the branch portions of the leaves using a tiny tip Q-Tip along with a few gems.
